Immigration Reform that works for All

All administrations in the 21st century have failed to make meaningful immigration reform a true priority. This has led to public dissatisfaction and has allowed bad actors to demonize immigrants in this country instead of fixing what is broken.

We need proper immigration reform in this country.

That means creating a clear pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, DACA recipients, and individuals with Temporary Protected Status. This process must be safe, clear, and reasonable for those who are undocumented. People should not be afraid to come out of the shadows to follow the law and contribute fully to the country they already call home.

We also need to invest further in our immigration processes. We need to hire more immigration judges, create clear timelines for citizenship, and provide universal legal representation in removal proceedings. I would propose shifting the budget allocated to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to immigration reform.

Once we strengthen the immigration process, enforcement can be targeted, effective, and fair. That includes holding companies liable for exploiting and preying on immigrants with sub-par wages and unsafe working conditions. We can expand the use of E-Verify and create financial penalties for companies and people who continue to evade the proper immigration processes once reformed.

The current administration has decided to NOT fix our immigration system. This administration has decided to continue to demonize vulnerable populations and increase the cruelty of their enforcement without actually fixing this root cause of our immigration system. Let me be clear, this administration has spent more money than ever on immigration enforcement but there has NOT been comparable federal spending on Immigration Reform.

Special Note about ICE

At this point in time, I don't believe ICE is properly operating as intended and I don't believe it can be reformed. We must abolish ICE as an organization and redistribute their responsibilities to other federal entities. Their funding should be redistributed to immigration reform.

Anyone who has violently and egregiously violated the law as an ICE agent underneath this administration should be charged and prosecuted.

Lastly, we should bar any federal entity from wearing masks domestically.
